Woodland Drives is home to one of Tallahassee's most important parks, DeSoto Site Historic Park. Hernando de Soto spent the winter here in 1539. Archaeologists discovered artifacts from the De Soto expedition at the location, including bits of chain mail armor, coins, tips from crossbow darts, and more.
Woodlands Drive is a historic neighborhood in the heart of downtown. As one of the city's earliest neighborhoods, Woodlands Drive contains several important sites and is part of the Myers Park Historic District. Archaeologists have discovered artifacts throughout the neighborhood, many dating to the early 1600s.
