I am a restaurant employee (I actually have two jobs- waitressing at both a corporate restaurant and a locally owned one). The reality of "season" aka the coming and going of snowbirds and the subsequent rise and fall of business in my industry greatly affects my disposable income and thus, my quality of life. My husband has a somewhat steadier job in Palm City at a locally owned pool and spa store. Weather, as with all of Florida, is nice- hot in summer but it never freezes, and it doesn't rain as much as other areas of the country. Beaches are great when they are not infested with toxic blue green algae. I don't regret moving here; we have had friends in the area for years and the move led to my decision to apply (and I was accepted!) to graduate school at University of Miami.
