As the largest evangelical Christian university in the world, Liberty University offers a significantly different lifestyle that most colleges its size. Curfew, convocation, and community service are major elements of the student experience at LU, and while it is not required for students to live on campus, the majority of freshmen choose to do so. Academics and student discipline are rigorous, but students do enjoy a wide variety of fun things to do in their free time. It’s not uncommon to catch a pop-up musical performance in random places around the campus, especially behind Science Hall, Tunnel Worship, and even at the library. The Snowflex Centre artificial ski slope offers the chance to carve up Liberty Mountain any time of the year. Tower Theater hosts a packed roster of stage plays and concerts, and serves as the home to the professional Alluvion Stage Company. And when you’re feeling adventurous, the hills and forests just northwest of town are ripe for exploration on the weekends.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
