Suburban Private Baptist Liberal Arts Buccaneers

Charleston Southern University is a private, Southern Baptist university that began in 1964. CSU is a liberal arts school with roughly 40 undergraduate and 7 graduate programs. The university is affiliated with the South Carolina Baptist Convention. The Buccaneers participate in NCAA Division I as part of the Big South Conference. Sports teams include football, baseball, basketball, and cross country.

CSU's campus is located about 16 miles north of Downtown Charleston, just off I-26. The suburban campus sits along University Boulevard, south of Alumni Drive. Look for apartments off University Boulevard, especially along Elms Plantation Boulevard and Shadow Lane. A wide selection of shops and restaurants are available along University Boulevard, along with North Charleston Wannamaker County Park. This large park is home to a disc golf course, picnic areas, walking trails, a playground, and Whirlin' Waters Adventure Waterpark, an amusement park that features a wave pool, water slides, and more.
