Hinds Community College, founded in 1917, is the largest community college in Mississippi. A comprehensive educational institution, Hinds CC offers academic programs guaranteed to transfer to a university or to achieve job-readiness in just one to two years through career and technical options.
Hinds’ main campus is located in Raymond, about 15 miles southwest of Jackson. Several apartments and houses are available for rent in the surrounding Raymond area; however, options are more plentiful if you expand your search to include neighboring Clinton and Western Hills. Proximity to Route 18 with access to I-20 makes commuting and traveling from Hinds simple.
Although it is a small campus, HCC Raymond provides big opportunities and a traditional college experience with residence halls, NJCAA athletic teams, and international study options. More than 90 student organizations and a variety of student activities ensure there is something for everyone at Hinds. Outside of Hinds, ample historical, musical, artistic, and culinary attractions abound in nearby Jackson. New Orleans and Memphis are a three-hour drive away, for more off-campus adventure.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
