For more than a century, Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota has served as one of the state’s finest institutions of higher learning, earning recognition as one of the top regional universities in the Midwest. While the Saint Mary’s system primarily serves graduate students (who make up more than two-thirds of the overall student body), the main campus in Winona is geared toward the roughly 1,200 undergrads enrolled.
The Saint Mary’s campus is located in the small city of Winona in the Southeast corner of Minnesota, near the banks of the Mississippi River and the Iowa and Wisconsin state lines. The campus is positioned on the west side of town, a few minutes removed from the city center. The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
