Established in 1865, Bowie State University is Maryland’s oldest historically black college or university. Bowie State serves a diverse student body while honoring its heritage of providing access to higher education for underrepresented populations, with a continuing commitment to African Americans. The supportive academic environment at BSU allows students to think critically, make new discoveries, value differences, and emerge as leaders in a highly technological and interdependent world.
