The University of Louisiana at Lafayette is where world-class higher education intersects with the vibrant history and culture of South Louisiana. Cajun and Creole heritage are essential components of the local community, and the university is no exception: students are able to earn a master’s degree in Francophone Studies, the ULL Press is the largest publisher of Louisiana-specific material, and the sports teams are known as the Ragin’ Cajuns. Most of the major university buildings are clustered around the northwest side of the campus, with the School of Music and Performing Arts found on the east side near the Alumni Center.
Downtown Lafayette is only a couple of blocks north of campus, making it easy to walk over to catch a show at the Acadiana Center, grab a poboy at Pop’s, or head to NiteTown after hours. Closer to the campus, the cluster of restaurants and bars along Coolidge Street near Girard Park offers casual favorites like Café Lola and Hub City Diner.
The city offers countless options for living arrangements within walking distance of ULL and downtown, with convenient apartments, condos, and rental houses available to fit any budget.
