Area Guide

The flagship institution of Kansas’ biggest city

Public Urban Shockers Historic

As the flagship university in one of the heartland’s largest cities, Wichita State University serves as a major cultural and intellectual hub for the entire region. Wichita State’s campus is allocated in a mostly residential section of the city, and most of the popular dining, entertainment, and nightlife hotspots are a few miles down the road in the Oldtown area. However, a few mainstays like The Field House and Fairmount Coffee Company are just a short walk away from the main university buildings.

The Redbud Trail is a popular urban bike trail that runs past the southeast corner of campus, providing a convenient route to Downtown (and several miles east toward Augusta, if you’re up for an adventure). The neighborhoods surrounding the university are full of affordable apartments, condos, and rental houses, providing countless options for living arrangements within walking distance of the main campus.
