USD occupies a fairly quiet residential area of San Diego that is perfect for enjoying the region’s natural landscape. The campus borders Tecolote Canyon Natural Park, a large scenic area filled with trails that are perfect for relaxing walks and bike rides. Mission Bay and San Diego’s famous beaches are only a few minutes to the west, allowing you to enjoy the best of Southern California’s coastal lifestyle anytime you want. While the city’s Gaslamp Quarter earns its reputation as a terrific entertainment district, you can find plenty of excellent restaurants, shops, and entertainment venues closer to campus in the Old Town and Morena neighborhoods. In spite of San Diego’s reputation for its high cost of living, the area near the USD campus features a number of surprisingly affordable rental options, with everything from upscale condos and townhouse to budget-friendly apartments within a reasonable distance of the university.
