Sacramento State provides a stellar array of educational resources and research opportunities in one of California’s most historic cities. The heavily-wooded campus is home to some of Sacramento’s most unique landmarks, including the Golden Gate-inspired Guy West Bridge and the terminus of the legendary Pony Express.
The university is positioned in a mostly residential sector for Sacramento, but a few nearby bars and restaurants have become local favorites, particularly Hoppy Brewing Company, Dos Coyotes Border Café, and Fahrenheit 250 Barbecue. The campus is surrounded by neighborhoods (including the area directly across the river, connected to the west bank by the bridges at J Street and Howe Avenue on either side of campus). Housing options are plentiful within easy walking distance of the university, with some surprisingly affordable houses, condos, and apartments very close by.
