For over a century, the University of La Verne has been one of the most prominent private colleges in California. The campus population is fairly small at around 5,000, almost evenly split between undergraduates and grad students. The university strongly values lifelong learning, and serves several thousand non-traditional students through its web services and remote facilities as well.
The La Verne campus is situated in the northeastern suburbs of Los Angeles, where the cityscape begins to give way to the San Gabriel foothills. A popular assortment of restaurants and bars is clustered around the eastern corner of campus, and the city’s biggest shopping centers are only a few blocks away.
The neighborhoods surrounding the university are mostly residential, providing many rental options that are easily within walking distance. The nearby mountains are prefect for weekend hikes and camping trips, and Los Angeles proper is only 35 miles to the west, allowing you to take advantage of the city as well as the wilderness anytime.
As of August 2025, the average apartment rent in La Verne, CA is $2,397 for one bedroom, $2,702 for two bedrooms, and $3,694 for three bedrooms. Apartment rent in La Verne has increased by 5.3% in the past year.
