Located in the northern stretches of Daniel Boone National Forest, Morehead is a quaint town home to ample recreational opportunities and Morehead State University. Morehead also exudes historic character, once serving as the site of the Rowan County War, a feud that took place between 1884 and 1887.

Situated along the Sheltowee Trace Trail, Morehead is the third city to become a designated Kentucky Trail Town. Morehead is also convenient to the expansive Cave Run Lake, the largest lake in Eastern Kentucky.

Morehead offers artistic amenities such as the Rowan County Art Center and the Kentucky Folk Art Center, in addition to Saint Claire Regional Medical Center, the region’s second-largest employer. Getting around from Morehead is simple with convenience to I-64 and U.S. 60.
