When you rent a condo in Kapolei, Hawaii, expect plenty of to-die-for sunsets and a relaxing lifestyle while still being just 21 miles west of Honolulu and famed Waikiki Beach, which locals sometimes head to for surfing and partying. Residents of Makakilo, Kapiolei, and Honokai Hale often pack a picnic and choose somewhere a bit quieter, such as Paradise Cove Public Beach or Barbers Point Beach Park, roughly a mile or two from home.

Enjoy a round of golf at the local Kapolei Golf Course or the Ko Olina Golf Club, part of the upscale Ko Olina Resort area. Take advantage of the "kama'aina" (resident) rates and save a bundle at either course.

Locals tend to hang out at Zippy's, open 24/7 and home to authentic Hawaiian fare. Roy's Ko Olina and the restaurants at Disney's Aulani Resort provide more upscale options.

Living in the newer parts of Kapolei has been great, especially seeing all the development of a new city being built right next to it.

Kapolei is a busy town where homeless people, bus riding people, and drivers are all busily getting to places. I would like to see a change of pace where the streets and sidewalks are free and it happens to be a ghost town. What I would keep the same is the diversity of people living wealthily enough to not have to steal from 7-eleven and lay in the bushes with their tents.

Kapolei is known as the second city of O'ahu. We've got lots of facilities in our city that you wouldn't even have to leave in order to live properly. I take a lot of pride in this city.
