Laveen, a small urban village in Maricopa County, was once a predominantly pastoral community that has now bloomed into a mecca of housing and commercial developments. It’s about eight miles southwest of Phoenix, and is home to great schools within the Laveen Elementary and Phoenix Union High School Districts.
The annual barbecue is a Laveen tradition that pays homage to its rural roots. It began in 1950 and consists of country music, dancing, and a cow milking competition. You’ll love this community because of its scenic view of South Mountain Park, the easy commute to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, as well as nightlife at Lone Butte Casino in Chandler.
As of January 2026, the average apartment rent in Laveen is $1,365 for a studio, $1,564 for one bedroom, $1,884 for two bedrooms, and $2,449 for three bedrooms. Apartment rent in Laveen has increased by 1.3% in the past year.

I have been able to find a good school. They have great holiday activities at the parks and make it such a welcoming place. Sometimes, cars do like to race and drive fast, which should be changed. This should be changed because it is unsafe, and people can die.

I love living in Laveen and being close to the mountains and hiking. Would like more sit down restaurants or unique places to eat that aren't chains.

I have lived here all of my life, from birth to present, and I loved it when it was just a little town surrounded by farmland, and little people. But now as I grow, Laveen grows with me and I am starting to not like the changes. While Laveen does get more exposure, which leads to more shops, it also leads to more people and with small roads and booming population, the traffic gets horrible. There is also a rapid increase in neighborhoods which means waking up to the sounds of construction and the destruction of precious farmland which was what Laveen was known for. There is a lot in store for the future of Laveen, but honestly I don't know how I feel about them, obviously I want Laveen to grow and prosper, but I think it is growing too fast. Roads need to expanded, less homes, more shops and places.

I've lived for over a decade, and I can say I wouldn't want to be anywhere else. The only down side is the racing, and fireworks at night. The ATV's as well, but you get used to it after awhile. I really enjoy living over here because there's a bit of everything, and all a ten minute walk away.
