Fort Sam Houston is a huge Army base located a couple of miles northeast of Downtown San Antonio, and the surrounding community is a vibrant and diverse suburban community. Easy access to the base makes this area ideal for armed service personnel as well as civilian military employees and folks in support industries. Living around Fort Sam puts some of San Antonio’s best outdoor venues at your doorstep: Brackenridge Park and the San Antonio Botanical garden are just a few blocks east of the base, providing superb environments for enjoying sunny days, and numerous nearby golf courses provide lots of opportunities to hit the links.
