Soak up the idyllic atmosphere in East End, a beautiful neighborhood known for the fairytale-style cottages and beautiful historic homes that peek out from tall shade trees. You may feel away from it all, but East End is an urban neighborhood on the east side of Downtown Boise. Adjacent to the neighborhood just across the Boise River, Boise State University provides opportunities for students as well as college sports fans -- cheer on the Boise State Broncos football team at Albertsons Stadium.
To live near the university, look for your East End apartment along East Park Boulevard. To live closer to downtown, look along South Broadway Avenue, Avenue B, or Reserve Street. If you enjoy spending time surrounded by beauty, try looking near the Idaho Botanical Garden. This large park features several events, including a Fall Harvest Festival. And if you enjoy spooky destinations, East End is home to the Old Idaho Penitentiary, a prison built in 1872 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Today, the 30 historic buildings feature exhibits and is open for self-guided walking tours.
As of November 2025, the average apartment rent in East End is $1,282 for a studio, $1,460 for one bedroom, $1,663 for two bedrooms, and $1,762 for three bedrooms. Apartment rent in East End has increased by 1.9% in the past year.

Safe, quiet, suburban place to raise a family. Hikes (Old Pen, Table Rock) easily accessible. Greenbelt and river also conveniently very close by. Public golf course in the area.

Great neighborhood feel. Friendly people and safe. The schools are amazing and the kids are out playing in the street (riding bikes) like the good ole days.

It's quite a peaceful city to stay in, and most crimes reported are usually just speeding cars. When there was a report of a murder of three people last year, the entire city was shocked; yeah, it's very rare.
