Located on the Northwest Side of Chicago, Avondale is a charming neighborhood on the rise. Avondale offers a more down-to-earth vibe than its ultra-hip neighbor, Logan Square, along with an array of diverse eateries, revered beer bars, video arcades, and specialty shops largely clustered on Elston Avenue and Belmont Avenue. In addition to its food and bar scene, Avondale provides unique entertainment venues like Prop Thtr and the Factory Theater, which are known for their one-of-a-kind theatrical experiences.
Rentals in Avondale typically include renovated apartments and condos in historic buildings, although there are a few newer developments available as well. Commuting from Avondale is a breeze with convenience to Interstate 90 and the Blue Line.
As of February 2026, the average apartment rent in Avondale is $959 for a studio, $1,093 for one bedroom, $2,214 for two bedrooms, and $3,061 for three bedrooms. Apartment rent in Avondale has increased by 1.4% in the past year.

One of the most suburbiest Chicago neighborhoods that I've seen. Really has the best of both worlds in terms of SFH neighborhoods, being close to transit and having walkable nightlife.

The area is becoming gentified. So right now its a great time to buy property as property value is only going to increase from now.

Avondale used to be a very bad neighborhood but it has gentrified a lot and it is right next to Logan square so both areas are up and becoming more trendy every year. Still the neighborhood is not too safe and it has its down sides. There are no active shootings anymore but there are a lot of spray paint tags, loud mariachi music, and fireworks, also neighbors may smoke weed and cigarettes on there porch. A perk is it is right next to logan square which is full of trendy businesses and restaurants. Plus it is close to the highway and the blue-line.

I like that there are lots of things to do in Avondale and everything you need is close by. I also love that it is a very safe place to live.
