I was shocked to read on this website that my beloved town of Los Osos "tends to lean conservative." I have no idea why such a statement would ever be made, as we are very proudly liberal, feel extremely safe in expressing our progressive views, and do so regularly. We're very solidly, and very proudly, very blue.

Los Osos is a very safe town in San Luis Obispo county. It is very family friendly. It has a beautiful place to walk called Sweet Springs Preserve that is a bird santuary and wood trails that go by the water. There are also trails in Los Osos Oaks park which have protected pygmie oaks.

30 years ago this was a great community but largely because of the corrupt LOCSD, this once affordable Community has forced many people to leave. The "wastewater project" was not handled properly, it placed an unfair burden on 5,000 Homeowners. The ultra high rates & charges resulting in high property taxes of these 5,000 homeowners PLUS the high cost for water by the LOCSD has made living in Los Osos completely unaffordable, forcing many to sell & leave town. This could have been avoided had the cost of this ill conceived "project" been handled more fairly by spreading the cost thru-out the ENTIRE zip code of Los Osos. The SLO Board of Supervisors FAILED Los Osos.

Los osos is a quiet place with not many things to do. Montana de Oro is close so that's a positive. The weather is usually cold. The commute to San Luis Obispo is about 20 minutes. There is improvement that is needed such as adding sidewalks for safety. Overall, it has been okay living here.
