Beware of Deceptive Practices at Legacy at Fox Valley Apartments – Move-In Day Disaster (March 12, 2025) On March 12, 2025, I moved into Legacy at Fox Valley Apartments, expecting a clean, well-maintained unit as promised during my tour. Instead, I was met with severe issues that made the unit uninhabitable from day one. False Advertising & Poor Move-In Conditions Before signing the lease, I was shown well-maintained units and assured that all apartments were identical in cabinetry, appliances, and condition—this was a blatant lie. On move-in day, I encountered: • Filthy Conditions: Oily residue and dirt inside cabinets, grease buildup in the oven, and stained carpets with visible spots. • Poor Maintenance: The kitchen sink was leaking, with wilted wood underneath, indicating prior water damage that was never properly repaired. • Loose Cabinets & Fixtures: Cabinets were poorly installed or barely attached, and fixtures throughout the unit were unstable. • Dryer Fire Hazard: The lint trap was full of debris, showing it had never been cleaned—posing a serious fire risk. • Structural Neglect: The balcony wood was so rotted that it broke off during the walk-through. Management failed to disclose this issue beforehand and only revealed that repairs wouldn’t happen for months. • Missing Window Screens: Several windows throughout the unit had no screens, preventing proper ventilation and insect control. • Pest Concerns: Within hours of moving in, I spotted centipedes in the hallway and ants near the windows, despite claims of preventative pest control. No Real Solutions, No Accountability Despite giving Legacy ample opportunity to resolve these issues, they failed to act promptly or offer a real-time solution. No comparable units were available, and no immediate repairs were made. Instead, I was left with an apartment that did not meet basic move-in standards. If you’re considering renting here, beware. They will show you pristine model units, make empty promises, and leave you stuck in a unit that does not reflect what was advertised. Save yourself the frustration—look elsewhere!

We have lived in this community for over 2 years and since the changes with the property management they are charging for every little thing. You have to pay for property maintenance, monthly service fee and now we will pay for community based allocation of electricity and gas. We have to pay rent and then all the other things that they want their renters to pay. We will not be renewing our lease as enough is enough. They are making it impossible for people to live in this community. Stay away and look elsewhere. You will regret moving here as things will become more costly and they will find ways to charge everything to their renters.

Poor communication is a shame. Area not safe, constant loitering, constant weed smoking in the parking lots and in buildings, trash flying everywhere all the time from gates being left open. Called the office because my car was towed down the street. She explained they did not have enough materials to rope off the area. Got Charged a fee for the lack of materials the office had. I parked in an un-roped area. . I understand if I was in the wrong, I pulled up the email when I parked to make sure I can park there. I have never had an issue, I never missed my rent, I am a good tenant and the one time I call for help with the issue this is what I get. Corporate and BBB now involved, sad mess.

Great space , nice set up great amenities looking forward to joining !
All is well except two constructive criticism. 1. Since this is a large community, need more maintenance personnel to take care of repair in timely manner. 2. Also, one of the staff member never answer the phone between 5 & 6 pm (closing time). Tried several occasions and different time but no answer. Can't be busy everyday everytime. The reason for bringing this to your attention is some of residents I knew they left because of this situation. Manager and some other staff members are very nice as well as community.
The apartment is great and the maintenance guys are great, but the rent needs to stop increasing for your loyal customers.

It's a nice quiet safe community. Neighbors are very friendly. Beautiful clubhouse.
Communication from the front office needs to be up it's game. We're all busy but a call back or even an email would be good.
Kathy and her team has been excellent. However the property has older HVAC and appliances. That requires an excellent and knowledgeable maintenance crew. That has not been the case. Looks like there is a new group of maintenance staff. Hoping that the new people are better than the team that was in place. HVAC units do not heat appropriately when the weather gets colder. Have opened two service orders because the heat would not get above 65 degrees on cold days. Neither time was the maintenance team able to fix the problem. One HVAC contractor said the units were old and therefore more likely to start having issues heating in colder windy temperatures. Insinuated the units would need to be replaced.
The grounds are kept up nicely and the pool area is very nice.
Definitely will recommend based location and follow up communication to understand actual feedback from tenant. But, Residents pay such a rent for out dated material/appliances isn't good to replace appliances based on its life time of device. We have total rusted dish washer don't even want to open or touch it. Stove 20yr old one. From outside all looks good. Happy to an extent but we love it has home.

Its probably one of the most secure places I've ever lived, the scenery is beautiful the community is so peaceful and friendly. I enjoy my balcony getting my morning sun.
The property manager cares about his tenants and is attentive to needs and requests through the leasing process and after you have moved in. I cannot stress enough how grateful I am for him and the team working with me on unexpected issues which cropped up and demanded a significant amount of time and effort. The leasing team overall is very prompt to respond and help as needed. The maintenance team is skilled with repairs and courteous about entering the home and removing shoes or putting on slip-on covers over the shoes to not track in dirt. Even with a late night emergency, the on-call response was met in a timely and helpful manner. I can tell the team in total represents a lot of experience who take ownership of customer service when presented with a needed repair.

I have been looking around the Aurora/ Naperville area for the past month for possible apartments. Ive looked at about 10 and this apartment complex it one of the nicer that I have been to. Dawn in the leasing office took the time to talk to me, and took me seriously. I won't be moving for a few more months but wanted to get out of the city and look around before the Chicago weather kicks in. A lot of the apartment complexes I went to just dismissed me. Ive been to a few places that acted like I wasn't worth their time and wanted to get me in and out as soon as possible. I can understand when if some offices have other waiting for a tour, but the ones that I have gone to had no one waiting. I drove around the complex and the grounds looked like they were kept up. I liked the way the buildings looked. The inside of the apartments looked nice too for the price. Only thing I wish is that there was a microwave, but its not that big of a deal. Hopefully a one or two bedroom will be available when I am ready to rent in the area.
This apartment complex is near all the shopping you can think of, and if you want to eat out there are an abundance of restaurants to choose from. My apartment has everything I need and the staff is Fantastic. I would recommend this place to any and everyone I know look for a place to live.
I have lived at Legacy for the past 7 years. I have been very happy here and have even encouraged friends and family to move in as well. The maintenance staff has always taken care of things quickly if a need arises and the office staff is friendly and helpful. They have gone above and beyond for me at times. The property is well maintained and the price is very competitive. I like the location as well. The mall and all the restaurants and stores on Rt. 59 are within walking distance. The pool is my favorite amenity here. There is nothing better than lounging by the pool on a hot summer day!
I fell in love with The Legacy at Fox Valley. The townhouse am renting met my expectations at first glance. I was allowed to take my time to view every detail. The office staff, especially Dawn went above and beyond assisting me. Dawn doesn't get commission on rental approvals but she worked hard as if she did. My new home is spacious, clean, and really a joy that I plan on being in for awhile.
I have lived here for a while. I loved it when I first moved in. Lately my feelings have changed and I am planning to move. The apartments are beautiful and well worth the money. The office staff is friendly, courteous and helpful. The lead maintenance man is awesome however they have not found assistants for him that are capable. The grounds however are very lacking. Dog feces and litter are everywhere. Watch where you walk. Also the drainage of the property is horrible also. When it rains, mud is everywhere. Between the mud, dog feces and trash as well as overall upkeep of the property is lacking.
