Sitting on the shores of Lake Michigan, St. Joseph is an excellent place for families who want a suburban feel with a coastal touch. The neighborhoods are safe and the schools are outstanding. According to Niche.com, St. Joseph Public Schools have the 5th best teachers and the 13th best school district in Michigan. Right at the mouth of St. Joseph River lies the historic Silver Beach Carousel and Museum. Take a spin on one of the hand carved realistic animals and learn about the Silver Beach Amusement Park that was open from 1892 to 1971. The community also enjoys the annual Blossomtime Festival, the oldest festival in the state, which celebrates the agricultural industry.
Locals take advantage of the thrilling coastal views by taking a trip to North Pier Lighthouse at Tiscornia Beach or the Warren Dunes State park where impressive mountains of sand tower 250 feet above the lake. Canoeing, kayaking, and fishing are extremely popular as well.

Joyful Resident
We have a 2 bedroom 1 bath apartment. The storage is amazing! It has a giant walk in closest with shelving on both sides, personal unit hot water heater, the stove is electric, the pantry is large, dishwasher, and shared coin laundry room. It runs on gas heat so it's cheaper and the central air is great. It's improved since we lived here 2 years ago with better shelving and new carpet. Sometimes you can hear people walking above you but generally quiet. The pool seems well kept, but the work out room needs some help. It's a 5 min walk to Lake MI and the price is the best for what you get in the area. Trash is 2X a week, and winter is usually fully plowed by 8/9am but you have to shovel the sidewalks to your car. Pets welcome for a price. Parking has never been an issue. Maintenance repairs seem quick, well done, but relaxed in detail. Management seems decent to work with. It's in a tourist community, and Meijer is around the corner. It's off a main road so it's easy access to everywhere. Generally a good experience.
