Property Ratings at Jamestown Apartments
frindly staff. love the duplexes with the private driveway
New management is wonderful. I love the new amenities they've added
My laundry list of cons blows my mind though. 1. Squatter. There was a squatter living in my apartment during the vacancy before moving here. It was short-lived, but they were there long enough to leave nastiness in my house. 2. When I moved in, there were dead bugs everywhere... mainly cockroaches and spiders. 3. Disconnect with management to residents. This has been ongoing both with the onsite property manager and Elmington Property Management. Onsite manager doesn't listen to what you have to say, and feels the need to get the last word in since what you have to say bears no relevance. You are automatically wrong in whatever you said. Period. 4. One maintenance person for the whole property that includes townhouses, apartments, and duplexes. He is nice and handy, but with him living nearly an hour away, that is problematic if something happens emergency-wise. For example, my apartment has flooded 3 times due to HVAC issues or neighbor water leaks. It was handled, but they could stand to have another staffed maintenance individual. 5. Dumpsters are always overfilled and never both emptied because a car blocks it from being dumped. Management doesn't correct the situation by having said car towed from site. If the renter is notified, it is not enforced because it is a constant eyesore and smell. See pics attached to my review. 6. Towing has never been enforced. It was only recently when I had ANOTHER person park in my designated spot that the property manager had it towed. I had to text her. Why this keeps happening is beyond me, but something tells me something is not clearly conveyed to the new tenants when they move in about assigned spaces. If they were, this wouldn't be an ongoing issue. 7. Money is not spent to invest in the property, only to maintain the mediocrity that is currently in place. 8. There were opossums or raccoons out of my walls. That went on for 6 weeks. Property manager kept saying she would take care of it, and one thing after another happened before finally she called the proper people to come handle the situation. 9. Not a great place to live. It looks better in pictures. Plus, I feel it is important that residents feel able and comfortable to talk to management. It really doesn't ever feel like you're being heard and that you are being cared for. I want to live somewhere where the property management (both onsite and corporate) care about their residents and not just see us as another paycheck.
My apartment has no upgrades, but I got an awesome deal when I moved in. The location is great and I feel safe. There aren't many amenities like a pool or anything, but there's a nice dog park and the trees outside are absolutely beautiful when they bloom in the spring. I don't really have anything negative to say about Jamestown.
