Perched on the north end of the Elk River and adjacent to Elk Neck State Forest, Elkton provides amazing natural beauty -- it is also located about halfway between Philadelphia and Baltimore, with just under an hour to each. In addition, it is about halfway between Washington, DC and New York City, with roughly two hours to each.
This ideal location has even more to offer with its charming and historic downtown shopping district, home to wide, brick-paved sidewalks; historic buildings filled with boutiques, restaurants, and cafes; period lighting; and colorful murals. Elkton was first settled in 1694 and played a role during the American Revolution, acting as a landing point for troops heading for Brandywine and later, Philadelphia.
It was much later when Elkton gained its claim to fame, however; when other northern states began passing strict marriage laws early in the 20th century, Maryland became a haven for those wanting to marry quickly and without restrictions.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at Iron Ridge and Stonegate Apartments
Not worth your money. Management seems to have no interest in helping residents or solving problems. They've changed our lease without warning. They've told us issues with neighbors that were affecting our apartment were our own problem to deal with - our apartment regularly reeks of weed smoke, cigarette smoke, and even garbage odors from neighbors' apartments. They've delayed repairs (sometimes to the point that their own system marks them as "done" because they've taken so long) and when maintenance tried to say replacements are needed, they've argued for cheaper repair work instead - even when appliances were leaking gas when used. Trash piles up around the dumpster as people leave it wherever, sometimes even to the point that people who do want to dispose of it properly struggle to get over the mountain of garbage to get to the compactor. Trying to get in touch with the right person in charge is an increasing nightmare as they've change through system after system. They just don't seem interested in helping or responding. You can find much better places.
The management team is amazing. They carried themselves in a very professional manner. The property is clean and very welcoming .
The new management is a nightmare. They don't want to help you. They don't want to fix your problems. Management is so unsupportive of maintenance and doesn't bother to tell them things, so maintenance issues - even incredibly serious ones - go unfixed for weeks if you're lucky, months or more otherwise. When they are fixed by "outside professionals" they're often fixed poorly or incorrectly and even then it's on whatever time schedule they and the office want, regardless of what you've actually been told. If you do try to get help from management on a problem, you're brushed off and told to figure it out yourself or deal with it on your own - everything from neighbors acting in ways that affect your apartment to people messing with cars to stolen packages and more. People leave trash and animal waste everywhere. Sometimes the piles of trash in front of the dumpsters have gotten so big you can't even get to the dumpster. They'll remove policies from your lease with no warning. All the while rent keeps going up. Find anywhere else - you'll be happier.
Absolutely terrible management team and maintenance personnel. God forbid you have an appliance related emergency or something wrong with your apartment. They’ll literally close out the request without even calling you or addressing the issue. The dog park’s trashcan hasn’t been replaced in 2 weeks. There’s literally bags of poop overflowing and in the floor. Absolutely terrible. Don’t live here
1- safety , they don’t have gates or cameras and they don’t care about what happens . 2- water leaks from the walls. 3- management don’t care . 4 - I had to call them almost every day to get my deposit after 3 months of leaving.
Horrible Manager ( Adam) he doesn’t respond to emails and requests. Very noisy neighborhood, and not safe at all.
I have been with Stonegate for 3 years and everyone from Leasing to Maintenance have been fantastic!! Very flexible and understanding. Shout out to Angela, Lenny and Dale!!!
Property Manager at Iron Ridge and Stonegate Apartments, Responded To This Review
Thank you again for taking the time to let us know how we did. We hope you have a great day!
The apartments/ neighborhood looks amazing but the management is awful. I’ve had nothing but issues since I’ve moved in and getting a call back to have anything fixed is next to impossible. Someone broke into my apartment and all the office manager had to say was “That’s weird” I wouldn’t recommend leasing here to anyone.
DO NOT RENT AN APARTMENT FROM HERE!!! Management is awful and extremely incompetent when it comes to doing their jobs. They will lie and lie to cover themselves. They are terrible people in the office and honestly do not care about the tenants at all. When the leasing office caught on fire a few months back we went in to express our condolences about it. The lady in management proceeded to tell me that everyone is a suspect when it comes to the fire. I was shocked that she said that to me and turned around and walked out. They are so unprofessional and will not return phone calls or emails. I recently moved out and they decided to keep 95 percent of my security deposit when there was very minor damage. The one carpet was damaged by us, which was about the size of a credit card and they charged us to replace the whole apartments carpet. Maintenance also took two and a half weeks and multiple requests from us to come check out our kitchen light which was not working. They are a terrible company and people working for it and I would advise extremely to not rent an apartment from them!!!!! If you don't listen to this review you will see for yourself in a very short time.
I have lived at Stonegate 2 years now. I have made some great friends from the neighbors who act very...neighborly! The landladies and maintenance workers are very quick to correct any problems I have had with my apartment home. In my experience, the maintenance workers are at my apartment within 2 hours if I have a problem. My favorite aspect of the Stonegate complex is planned Stonegate community events i.e. wine tasting, hayride. I do wish there were more outdoor movies! The gym and pool are nice! We are spoiled. I also would enjoy more greenery near where I lived, location is not the best - right off Elkton highway. But I signed up for that, no surprise. Complex is very pet friendly excluding certain dog breeds. The demographics of people are diverse - from graduate students to single families to senior citizens who are downsizing. While Iron Ridge next door is significantly cheaper, in my opinion the price difference is worth it. Thanks Stonegate!
I recently moved in and the experience has been well. The staff have been very helpful and the apartment itself has meet all my needs. The area is quite and safe.
