Outer North Charleston sits at the center of the city of North Charleston and lies just under 13 miles to the northwest of nearby downtown Charleston. An easy 20-minute drive via Interstate 26 takes residents into downtown Charleston and its multitude of restaurants and bars. The Charleston Air Force Base resides at the center of the outer North Charleston neighborhood, and due to this proximity, many current and former military personnel make the neighborhood their home. Home styles typically range from either mid-1900s ranch styles to between one- and two-story homes built in the 2000s.
Outer North Charleston residents enjoy easy access to international travel via the Charleston International Airport, which is located within the neighborhood. The North Charleston Coliseum, Charleston’s only coliseum and largest performance venue, provides residents with loads of entertainment.

Just went and looked at one of the renovated 3 bedroom apartments and I was actually pretty impressed with the upgrades and amenities. Lizz was a lot of help and was very knowledgeable and able to answer the questions I asked about the apartment. Definitely on my short list!
Friedlam Partners just took over, and they do a great job investing in the properties to make real change for residents. Improving amenities is a big thing wherever they go and residents are happy with the results.
Every bad review written about this place is true Rats and management is doing nothing about it because they don’t care No business center Management really hates people and humans Fitness center has been closed since we moved here Gate is broken so this place cannot be called a gated community
Pine Crest Apartments previously named St. Charles Place recently went through a major renovation including laminate wood flooring throughout the units. My unit in particular was in a good location, right in the front of the complex. Overall its a good apartment complex if you're on a budget, first apartment, or just graduated from college. Because of the location the units have a problem with palmetto bugs, but with monthly extermination provided by management it stays under control. The bathroom is small and lacks a ventilation system. The pros are that water, trash, sewage are included in the rent, it's pet friendly with lots of grassy area, the view is nice (right across from the old Naval hospital), you can pay rent online as well as put in service request, is a gated community, community activities, military discount, preferred employer discount for 1 year and great staff.
This is the perfect place to live if you work in downtown Charleston, but don't want to have to deal with the high rent and terrible parking associated with living on the peninsula. It's located 10-25 minutes from downtown, Mt. Pleasant, and West Ashley, depending on traffic. It's extremely quiet at night and I often forget that I even have neighbors. The apartment maintenance people are quick to respond to calls at any time and they are extremely polite and efficient. There are multiple laundry facilities available for use, as well as a pool and a gym. If you have children, there are a lot of playground areas available as well. The apartments are older, but they are very well maintained and you get a surprisingly large square footage for a fraction of the cost elsewhere! Unlike other apartment places available, this one has a working security gate entrance and exit, so there is that added feeling of safety. I've looked around, and there are not many options that offer the same amenities, unless I want to pay double the cost, or have multiple roommates.
