Hooghan Hozho

Stretched along the historic U.S. Route 66, Gallup is the most populous city between Flagstaff and Albuquerque. Known as the epicenter of Native American history, art, culture, and tradition in the Southwest, Gallup is home to many people with ancestral ties to the Navajo, Hopi, and Zuni tribes. Gallup is also enriched by Latin American communities, with unique art and cuisine representing a blend of cultures.

Surrounded by red sandstone cliffs and vast open spaces, Gallup is referred to as the “Adventure Capital of New Mexico” for its many extensive trails and parks as well as abundant opportunities for hot air ballooning, rodeo, hunting, rock climbing, and mountain biking. Gallup is a city steeped in tradition, offering a variety of exhibits at the Red Rock Museum and the Rex Museum in addition to a host of events celebrating the area’s rich heritage.
