Property Ratings at Hometown Apartments
I currently live here and have been renting here for over 3 years. I can say..its cheap. Cheaply made. Cheaply maintained. But also cheap rent. I will say though, its definitely the best price in the area for the size and appearance of the apartment. The walls are barely insulated, meaning that in the winter you ALWAYS have to have heat running, and in the summer you ALWAYS have to have the air conditioner running (or you could live very uncomfortablely). You can also hear every little sound from your upper/lower and next door neighbors. There is a lot of bugs in the basement where you have a storage locker, they infested my belongings that I kept down there and I had to get rid of a lot of stuff because of it. Parking is a mess, no assigned spots, and no guarantee for a spot in front of your building. My electric bills are consistently over $100 in the summer and winter months (air or heat running about 10 hours a day), and around $60-70 in the spring and fall (heat or air running 2-3 hours a day, sometimes not at all). They allow animals which is great, the only utility the tenant is responsible for is electric (heat and air runs on electric), it looks nice for the price, its large for the price, and for a student (like I am) its relatively close to campus (about a 5-7 minute drive depending in where you are going). Another perk is that its smack dab in the middle of everything, 5 minutes to downtown, 5 minutes to crossroads, 5 minutes to highway 10 (Target and such). I'd recommend it for someone who is looking for something temporary and cheap. Its not somewhere that I'd like to spend another year of my life.
I have resided at Hometown for a little over 3 years now. Apartments are spacious with large closets. My building is very quiet. I often times forget I have neighbors. The most negative aspect is you have to give 90 days notice if you plan to move. You also have to move out 5 days before the end of your last month. This can make it difficult to find a new place as most landlords don't allow you to move in until the 1st of the month.
I have lived in many apartments in many different states. This apartment is safe, quiet, cheap, and over-all a good bargain. When I was initially looking so many landlords or property managements wouldn't even return my call. Candlewood returned my call quickly and their representatives worked quickly to get me into an apartment that met my requirements, including cost. Sometimes the maintenance can take a little longer than I would like, but I would recommend this apartment if you are looking.
