Nestled along the Brunswick and Cape Fear River, Leland is a suburb of the waterfront cities of Myrtle Beach and Wilmington. This pastoral-chic town is near three beaches and other major attractions within the Brunswick Islands region. Locals spend their free time kayaking along the rivers that flow through town or traveling about 30 minutes south for a beach day. Kure Beach offers fishing piers and is home to a variety of activities including the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher. Residents take full advantage of being so close to the beach, but there is also plenty to do in town. You’ll find renters buying locally grown veggies and plants, taking a class at the Shelton Herb Farm, or taking a horseback riding lesson at Wonderland Farm. I'm so grateful and blessed to be living here! The staff are always helpful and caring. They always go out of their way to help with our needs. I enjoy stopping by the office just to say hi and talk to Kristian, Jordan, and Yannie! They often host fun activities for us to be a part of. Things like outdoor movie nights, game nights, pie baking contests, music bingo, etc. It's a fun way to meet neighbors, get to know each other, and truly be a part of community.

Everything you need is provided here. It is definitely a comfortable stay here and everything is very good. It is commendable and the apartment is definitely a dream apartment. And their workers provide such good facilities and service that I am completely satisfied here and I would like to come here again.There are beautiful apartments in other places, but their arrangements and the work of the staff is less perfect, but their work is excellent in every way and deserves praise. My husband and me, we could definitely like to stay here again,

All around best apartment complex. I work closes with almost all apartment complex's around wilmington. Christy and her team are always on top of it and more than willing to help any resident. Floor plans offer the best storage, close to all your basic needs, and best complex for dogs. 15 minunutre drive to downtown, 20 min to middle of Wilmington, and close to 25 min to southport.

Loved the experience my fiancé and I had living here! Christy and her team are so welcoming and nice! Very dog friendly with two different dog "park" areas, our 1 year old plott hound had a BLAST! Our 2 bed/2 bath apartment was clean and fully functional as we had no issues with any appliances during our year long lease! The team had food trucks come to the apartment complex every now and then which we absolutely loved along with other fun activities provided in the clubhouse. We were truly saddened after leaving our apartment for the last time (do to moving to a different city). Hawthorne Waterside makes you feel like family like no other apartment complex I have lived in! After reading other reviews on this site, I will say we lived on the first floor and had little to no issues with hearing our neighbors. The people directly above us we heard at times as you will in any other apartment complex. However, we never had issues with hearing the people next to us on either side or with people and dogs outside. We also never personally received any noise complaints from our dog. We honestly had good relationship with our neighbors! Overall we had a really great experience here and would definitely recommend it to others!

This complex is not very sound proofed. You can hear entire conversation people are having in a carpeted room. You can even hear music and dogs from outside the building. Don’t count on quiet hours being understood or enforced.

The distance from the main thoroughfare lends to a country feel in this complex, but the Leland shops are minutes away so you don’t feel completely rural. The balcony on my 2 bedroom is perfect for the cat to sit and bird watch, and fits my hammock chair with room to spare on just one half of it. The kitchen is good for cooks and our messes, and cleans up easily. Maintenance and the office staff are responsive, the office staff hosts mixers and other ways to add value and get to know their residents. There is currently construction happening but with a new build that’s to be expected, and the office clearly is working with them to set clear boundaries for timing which is nice. Overall I’ve thoroughly enjoyed living here and was strongly considering renewing until I was offered a promotion in another state. On the Rock Fish Lane side of the complex it appears to be mostly retirees and families, so it’s pretty quiet and the retirees love getting to know their neighbors and looking out for them. It’s a nice place to live overall, and friends who have visited have all mentioned aspects of the floor plan and apartment finishes they adore. Realistic expectations are important. There are two dog parks and doggie bag dispensers absolutely everywhere, and the office has sent numerous emails about the dog poop situation. I can’t see how this comes down to blame on the complex when they truly make it as easy as possible for the residents to care for this issue. It’s a brand new build in a high growth area, but the staff does it’s best to help limit the nuisances whenever possible which is worthy of consideration when making your housing decision.

Nonconfrontational is the only word I’ve even heard from conversation I’ve had with other residents about the office staff. Rent is being raised about $200 and they don’t see any issue with it. On top of that if you go to them about an issue they go around it like you must not be telling them right. Some residents are extremely rude and disrespectful. Walls are thin so don’t let them fool you. Also if you go to them with an issue about a resident don’t expect anything to happen.

There is dog poop everywhere and they don’t enforce rules on it very well. There is also cigarettes buds everywhere and this is a smoke free environment. Weed smell is extremely noticeable and this wasn’t the environment I thought I was moving into.
