Starting around 1849, an influx of settlers populated the area that is now Tigard. Around 1900, the Oregon Electric Railway arrived, and a stop was added in what is now the neighborhood of Metzger. Herman Metzger platted the town around 1908, building a school, a store, and a church. While it was called the Town of Metzger, the community never officially became a township. Today, this large neighborhood provides a family-friendly environment with community events and festivals, many held at Metzger Park.
Located in the heart of the neighborhood, Metzger Park is a small, seven-acre, heavily wooded park. It includes a playground, tennis courts, hiking trails, picnic areas, and horseshoe pits. While it is the neighborhood's gathering place, several other nearby parks are also popular, such as nearby Greenway Park, Dirksen Nature Park, and Englewood Park.
Metzger begins directly east of the popular Washington Square mall and extends westward toward 77th Avenue.

Property Ratings at Georgetown Manor Apartments
My last apartment sucked. This one is really nice, decent prices, and the amenities are really nice too, there's an indoor year round pool which is very clean, there's a gym, there's a pool/ping pong table room and across from that is a little sitting room with couches and movies you can exchange with other tenants or just meet somebody you don't want to bring up to your apartment. If I HAD to complain, it would be about the parking. There's only one spot for some of the apartments and very limited visitor parking, but, that's minor compared to my last place. The grounds are very well maintained and it seems that the maintenance requests are done quite expeditiously and the staff is no nonsense but friendly, all the things that kind of matter with an apartment building. And so far most of the neighbors seem to be pretty friendly. The laundry rooms have folding tables there's quite a few machines and it's pretty clean. Just get there early before people like me take up four machines ??
The apartments are nice sized and livable, but average. Cheap, beige wall to wall carpet, cheap linoleum in the kitchen, low-end appliances add no charm or appeal. Maintenance staff is friendly and competent, but the water is turned off at least once per month and parking is abysmal, with no arrangements for overflow. Each apartment has a patio or balcony which is nice, but the owner/managers are FOREVER picking over EVERY item on them. If they don't like the kind of chair or table you have - you'll get note after note after note taped to your door. There are security pads on all the front doors, but the back door is perpetually propped open so "secured building" is more of a nice idea than reality. The location is great (except around the holidays) but it's definitely a low-end apartment trying to jack up rents too quickly without offering commensurate amenities or improvements.
This apartment had been a great apartment to live in. There are good amenities including a clean, almost private hotel size indoor pool, a decent laundry room, and GREAT location. The downsides are VERY limited parking, only 1 car per unit and few visitor spaces, and it is a completely non-smoking property, which is a hassle if you are a smoker. Onsite management is friendly and on top of things and repairs are efficiently completed. Neighbors pretty much keep to themselves for the most part. Overall, this is not a bad place to live.
I have lived here at the Georgetown for a little over two years now. The units are 1 bdrm 1 bath or 2 bdrm 1 bath. I first lived in a 1 bdrm and loved the layout, one of the best functioning apartments I have ever had. I now live in a 2 bdrm after a year and a half and love my corner top floor unit. Each unit has a large balcony which is wonderful to have. The grounds are always kept very clean by the fantastic and frienldy staff and management. In the time I have been here they replaced all of the interior carpeting in the common enclosed secure door hallways. The roof has been replaced and they have been upgrading the balconies over this summer. They do alot to keep this place in the fantastic condition it is in for a building built in the 70's. There is a 24 hour work out room which the recently got brand new equipment for that is preety darn snazy for an apartment complex workout room. There is also an indoor years round pool which I have used many times and it is always kept clean. You also get one assigned parking space per unit. My only quarl is the lack of visitor parking. There are very few unmarked spaces and they go fast so if you have 2 cars it can be difficult to park your second vehicle. Other then that this has been a wonderful place to live and I will continue to live here until I decided tp purchase a house of my own.
