The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at Essex Square
On the surface a really nice value, but the old saying "you get what you pay for" hits home with this place. If low rent and a short distance from campus is what you seek, you found your place, but those things come at a cost. The place is old about 30 years old but that does not mean that it cant be properly maintained, however this place is not. Just from the move in inspection you can see that the person in charge of make ready for new tenants has no idea what they were doing from cockeyed light switch and outlet covers(every single one of them in my unit and my neighbors) to the mind boggling amount times they decided to repaint without scraping off old paint(and yes they make you sign a waiver for lead paint). The maintenance guys are good during normal business hours but if you have an emergency on Friday night(ie really bad leaking toilet due to rusted through pipes) you are going to have to hold out until Monday because they don't work on weekends. The laundry room is a little pricey but would be worth it if the machines worked. You would think that after buying commercial dryers that they would be serviced every so often this is also not the case. Those things work 2/10 times a gamble that many people lose a decent amount of money on. The parking lot near campus is nice but during the year alot of people who dont live hear park here(so much for paying for a spot). They dont tow either...unless its a game day then they will sell your spot if you arent parked here when someone wants it. They try to sell the place as "A good bargain if the little things dont bother you" but fail to mention alot of the big things so I would stay away unless you are just someone looking to ride out that last semester and save a little money.
