Warrensville Heights incorporated as a separate village in 1927, and as a city in 1960. Named after one of the earliest settlers, Daniel Warren, the city enjoyed geranium and greenhouse fame before its agricultural surroundings transformed into a modern residential suburb.

Visit numerous historical destinations located close to the neighborhood, including James A. Garfield National Historic Site, the former home of the 20th President of the United States, as well as various art galleries and centers, such as Opus Gallery to the east and many more to the northwest. Warrensville Heights hosts various annual events, so time your visit around December for the annual holiday lighting ceremony, or May for the Memorial Day Parade.

Choose from a varied menu, featuring dishes such as Frederick’s Fried Chicken Fritters and Frederick’s Alfredo Fettuccini, and stick around for hours if you like; the bar stays open until 2:30 a.m. every day except Sunday.

Also open late, the Winking Lizard Tavern located on Miles Road – the original tavern of the well-known statewide night scene, established over 30 years ago – features plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, numerous TVs, a full bar, daily lunch deals and drinks specials. Sample the wings or ribs or Phred’s Prefered Pfries with cheddar, mozzarella and bacon, and pair your meal with one of the bar's many local and imported beers.

Another one for drinks with friends or a later night, South East Gears and Cheers Restaurant and Bar provides customers with menu specials and a happy hour from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays, including beer sampling and appetizers. Located just outside the neighborhood on Aurora Road, the restaurant and bar also offers live entertainment on Saturday nights, a landscaped patio with outdoor seating, multiple TVs and a big screen. Nightlife in the area is as varied and exciting as other aspects of living in Warrensville Heights.

Residents enjoy easy access to a number of highways with Interstate 480 and Interstate 271 located on the neighborhood borders. Going south, motorists access either Akron, Canton and beyond, or Cuyahoga Valley National Park, Mansfield and further southwest, depending on the route taken. Ohio State Route 8, or Kinsman Road, just north of the neighborhood, gets you to Cleveland. Uber operates in the Cleveland and surrounding area, including Warrensville Heights.

Various RTA buses serve the neighborhood, including the 15, 19, 41-41F and 94. These bus lines transport residents around surrounding neighborhoods as well as to downtown Cleveland. Residents can also access the RTA’s rail service by taking a short drive north of the neighborhood to reach the Warrensville - Van Aken Rapid Station. Boarding the blue line here gets you to Cleveland in about half an hour.

Although a large majority of residents drive as their primary means of transport, and many errands require the use of a car, Warrensville Heights does accommodate walkers and bikers, and provides them with access to sidewalks. Unfortunately, though, sidewalks are often obstructed by objects, such as fire hydrants and planters, and there can be a lack of off-street sidewalks and bike lanes, with these areas tending to borrow space from the street instead.

Warrensville Heights provides residents with much loved green space in the form of Green Road Park. The family-friendly park features a jungle gym, slides, swings, a gazebo and picnic area. It opens daily at 8 a.m. and closes at dusk during warmer months. The park also hosts the neighborhood’s annual summer festival, with festivities including rides, games, food, art, contests, music and activities. The park is free to use, and pets are not allowed.

Golf lovers enjoy traveling to nearby Highland Park, an 18-hole golf course accommodating all skills and ages.
