Viviendo en Vista

Historia

-

Originally inhabited by the Luiseño Indians, settlers began visiting the area in the 1850s, and one, John Frazier, chose the name "Vista." Incorporated in 1963, the city's population grew rapidly, and it continues to develop in terms of its population and attractions.

Arts play an important role in the community, and the Moonlight Amphitheatre is one of the main attractions. Broadway musicals play in the summer, and the lineup shifts to comedies, dramas and small-scale musicals in the winter. Get a lawn seating ticket so you can bring the whole family, and pack a picnic dinner while you take in a show.

Restaurantes y Bares

-

Upscale international cuisine and modern American restaurants characterize the varied dining experience in the area.

If you're in the mood for authentic Italian food, look no further than Marco Italian Restaurant. This subdued, family-owned restaurant makes you feel at home. Featuring all homemade ingredients, you'll taste the difference in the linguini and the generous portions of hot garlic bread.

La Casa de los Alambres provides a taste of Mexico at an affordable price. Friendly servers welcome everyone into the restaurant. Bring the family on a Friday night, and try the barbecue special; a meal designed to feed four that includes ribs, chicken and potato salad.

Beer enthusiasts will love Prohibition Brewing Company, a grill and pub nestled on East Vista Way. The casual, all-American atmosphere and the big screen TVs make this the perfect place to watch the game while sampling its unique beers. Give the double dry hopped Sky Kelp Black Double IPA a try when you want a robust flavor combination.

The neighborhood features an up-and-coming nightlife scene, with plenty of bars that allow you to meet the locals. When you want to show off your singing, head over to Jim's Vista Lounge for karaoke. For the biggest crowd, go on the weekends. Check it out during the week if you want to relax and shoot some pool for only 50 cents a game.

Transporte

-

This scenic area has one freeway running through it and several convenient public transportation options for getting around.

Designed with relaxing car travel in mind, you can drive around Vista quickly and easily. California State Route 78 runs east and west, while Vista Village Drive, East Vista Way and Santa Fe Avenue provide access to most of the area. The neighborhood doesn't have parking structures, instead allowing the public to park on the streets, although rates and time limits will vary.

The North County Transit District makes public transportation simple with its Breeze buses. Routes 334 and 335 take passengers around the area, and the Vista Transit Center provides access to bus and train services. Ride the Sprinter for east and west access across North County, or use the Coaster for north and south access throughout San Diego. If you need to get somewhere fast, taxis and ride-share services like Uber also service the area.

The community prioritizes bicycle safety, which allows cyclists to get around without worry. With an area of 18.7 square miles, it won't take long to access most of Vista via bicycle. The neighborhood lacks walkability, so some form of transportation will be required for most errands.

Parques

-

The area's collection of parks provide residents with the opportunity to witness Vista's natural beauty and scenic environment.

All of the parks in the area welcome dogs, but South Buena Vista Park gives them the chance to run around leash-free. It features calm trails and ponds with ducks and geese, making it an ideal option for the entire family to visit. A playground for the kids and plenty of open space for the dog provide plenty of chances for both to play and socialize.

Every year, Vista hosts the Summergrass festival, which features live bluegrass music. Bring the kids for games and activities. You can even pack a tent and camp out at the festival. More than just a concert, Summergrass lets guests participate as well, with music workshops and spontaneous jam sessions.

For residents with a competitive streak, Brengle Terrace Park has tennis courts, baseball fields, basketball courts and volleyball courts. Get a workout in at the gym, then head over to the botanical gardens to relax. Golf aficionados will love the disc golf course set up throughout the facility.

Costo

-

Life in Vista carries a reasonable cost of living, especially considering the luxury it has to offer. The cost of leasing houses or apartments can be lower than surrounding areas of North County. Typical rental costs for a one-bedroom apartment in this area tend to be around $1,100 per month, although cheaper arrangements are available.

A Metro ride to the city center costs about $2.25, and gas prices usually settle in about 11 percent higher than the national average. You can expect to pay around $3 for a pint at the local pubs.

Compras

-

With a balanced mix of larger chain stores and smaller shops, you can find everything you need without leaving the comforts of the community.

If you're looking for a one-of-a-kind gift, visit Metaphor Boutique, which is nestled into a cozy area of old Vista village. The variety of knick-knacks you can find at this shop makes it perfect for gifts. Grab a book for yourself, then buy mom a scented candle or a hand-crafted soap.

Twice on Main Street may look glamorous and upscale from the outside, but you'll be pleasantly surprised with the deals when you walk inside. The clothes and jewelry match the season, so you can shop with confidence that whatever you get will be in style.

If you like to shop at a large grocery store, Vista has plenty, including Albertsons, Vons, Ralphs and Fresh & Easy. For those that prefer organic foods, stop by Frazier Farms, which boasts a large selection that includes fresh meats, produce and breads. Bamboo and other plants enhance the store's natural atmosphere. For a quick bite, grab a sandwich at the deli, or try the freshly made sushi.
