North Lauderdale originated as farmland. The area provided Anderson Dairy Farm a grazing pasture for cattle and horses. Lena Lyons Stringbean Farm used the vicinity for agricultural purposes. In the 1950s, Morris Lapidus transformed North Lauderdale by developing the first Miami Beach style resort, Fontainebleau Resort. In the 1960s, the Osias Organization bought the majority of the land to build homes and develop businesses. The area, which was incorporated in 1963, continues to attract people from all over the world.
