Viviendo en Sun Bay South

Historia

-

Sun Bay South shares in the rich history of the greater Tampa area. As with most places in the United States, the area was first settled by Native American tribes. Early settlement efforts were hampered by frequent outbreaks of yellow fever, which discouraged emigration and kept the population relatively small for over a century. The area grew slowly during the 1880s with the arrival of the area's first railroads. The new transportation links did more than encourage commerce, they led to Tampa's population boom as people came to visit, liked what they saw and decided to settle in the area. By the end of the 19th century, Tampa had grown into an economic powerhouse and become one of Florida's largest cities. Since then, the city has been central to Florida's economic success.

Sun Bay South residents learn more about Tampa's history at the Tampa Bay History Center only 7 miles away, and the local arts scene flourishes at the Tampa Museum of Art. Many attend the Taste of South Tampa in April.
