Viviendo en Stone Ridge

Historia

-

Stone Ridge lies in the eastside north region of El Paso, a city on the border between the United States and Mexico. Incorporated in 1873, El Paso experienced a population boom as railroads arrived in 1881. Another growth period occurred toward the end of World War II due to military expansion and oil discoveries, and the city continued to grow at a slower pace toward the end of the 20th century.

The neighborhood doesn't have any art galleries or museums, but a few can be found throughout the city. El Paso features a variety of annual events, but none occur in Stone Ridge.

Restaurantes y Bares

-

Although Stone Ridge has primarily Mexican restaurants, cuisines from other cultures can be found here as well.

For a stylish setting and modern American meals with a twist, check out Crave Kitchen & Bar. Hanging silverware and a chalkboard menu add a nice touch to the decor, and the food doesn't disappoint whether you stop by for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The steak-and-egg burrito stands out as one of Crave's most filling breakfast options, while the brick-baked chicken is a standout in the dinner menu.

If you're a sushi fanatic make your way over to Sumo Sushi. Friendly servers take care of you from the moment you walk in the door, giving this casual restaurant an inviting atmosphere. Don't leave without trying the red dragon, one of the best choices on the menu. If you have someone who doesn't like sushi in your party, don't worry--Sumo Sushi also has well-cooked teriyaki chicken and a veggie tempura plate.

Carnitas Queretaro brings authentic Mexican food across the border, beginning with freshly made tortillas that stand out the moment you bite into a taco. This restaurant keeps it casual with a touch of upscale elegance to set it apart from other Mexican diners around the area. Meat lovers should get the Queretaro plate for slow cooked pork, Carnitas Queretaro's specialty.

As far as the nightlife, the area has several bars and clubs to keep you entertained after dark. For an inexpensive good time, try Whiskey Dick's. Frequent drink specials mean even lower prices, and the bar features a DJ to keep the crowd moving. Expect to hear plenty of country music along with pop dance songs.

Transporte

-

Residents of Stone Ridge usually get around by car, although some choose the city's public transportation options.

Motorists have quick freeway access, with Interstate 10 a short drive south of this neighborhood. That highway, running northwest and southeast, goes through the city and beyond to several other major cities. Take it southeast to connect with Texas State Highway Loop 375, which got its name from the way it loops around part of El Paso. You can park on the street here, just check the signs first.

Sun Metro buses service the city, with Routes 69, 73 and 74 passing through the neighborhood. The buses provide residents with a convenient, reliable alternative method for getting around El Paso. Taxis and ride-share companies, such as Uber, also service the area. Pick-up times after summoning cars vary.

Destinations tend to be too far for walking to be an option. Biking may work for certain commutes, but many streets around the area lack bike lanes, so you should have some experience before riding around El Paso.

Parques

-

Residents and their children get active at the nearby park, recreation center or trampoline park.

Whether you want to hit the gym, take a swimming class or play some football, stop by Marty Robbins Park. The park features a large outdoor area and a recreation center for indoor activities. You can even bring your dog, just keep your pet on a leash and clean up after it. The park doesn't have a fee to visit, but certain programs have varying fees. If your family doesn't have Easter plans, come to the park for the annual Easter egg hunt.

For a different kind of workout, visit Rockin' Jump. Equipped with tons of trampolines, this park has enjoyable activities for all ages. Bust out tricks while soaring through the air, head over to the basketball court to throw down some dunks and end your day with a game of trampoline dodgeball. Rockin' Jump turns up the music on weekends, giving you a beat while you bounce through the air.

If you want to dress up like a cowboy or cowgirl, head to Starr Western Wear. Comic-book fans should check out Black Sheep Comics, on North Lee Trevino. With knowledgeable, friendly owners working the store, expect to feel welcome here whether you just got into comics or you've been reading them for years. The store also holds gaming tournaments for those who have competitive streaks or just love to play games.
