Saugus - Santa Clarita, CA

Saugus got its name from the Massachusetts hometown of Henry Newhall, who purchased a large amount of Mexican land grants. Some of this land became the city of Santa Clarita, which includes Saugus. In the early 20th century, the neighborhood became a popular site for early Western movies and movie star homes away from the city. It merged with three adjacent communities in 1987 to form Santa Clarita.

Museums and art galleries can be found in Santa Clarita, but not in Saugus. The Santa Clarita Marathon, which occurs annually, goes through Saugus along with other parts of the city. Runners can qualify for the Boston Marathon at this race. For those who don't quite have the endurance, the event also includes a half marathon and a 5K.

The neighborhood's dining scene features cuisines at affordable prices from a variety of locales.

The Santa Clarita Swap Meet has been held at the Saugus Speedway since 1963. Vendors sell new and used merchandise, and with the swap meet held three times per week, you'll have plenty of opportunities to find deals. Food stands and live music create a lively atmosphere the whole family can enjoy.
