The history of Richmond Hill began in 1736 when British General James Oglethorpe established its settlement. Built on the leveled inclines of the Savannah River, many people currently know the area as Summerville, Augusta. From 1785 to 1795, Augusta was the state capital. Other significant historical events in the area include the Cotton Exchange of 1872 and Ezekiel Harris House of 1797.

Plan a visit to the Augusta Museum of History and learn all you can about the Ezekiel Harris House of 1797. Take a guided group tour around the Morris Museum of Art. On the second floor, visit the museum’s art galleries, where you will see many permanent art collections. At Pendleton King Park, residents observe Arbor Day with a 5K run and distribution of tree seedlings. In October, residents celebrate cultural musical entertainment at the Hispanic Festival.

Augusta Riverfront, the most popular parking operator in town, offers low-priced and discounted parking. 23.34 miles of I-50 encircle most of the Augusta metro area and so residents have easy access to the highway.
