Historia

-

Northrop lies within the city limits of Richmond, which was founded in 1737 as a trading post. It slowly grew during the colonial period, and was experienced heavy fighting during the Civil War due to it being the capitol of the Confederate States of America. Residents are well aware of this fact, which is reinforced by the Museum of the Confederacy located at the "White House of the South." Likewise they can visit the Tredegar Iron Works, where most of the Confederacy's artillery was manufactured. The Science Museum of Virginia and the Children's Museum of Richmond host events, and display collections from all over the globe. Annually, Richmond hosts several food and wine festivals along with multiple cultural events to inspire and unify residents. Northrop, being mainly a small residential area, does not have space to host these annual events, but a short trip west along Midlothian Turnpike grants you access to all the splendors of the cities culture.
