Historia

-

North Collinwood was once part of Euclid, a town formed in 1809 and named for an ancient Greek mathematician known as the father of geometry. Euclid was incorporated in 1877, then unincorporated the following year, only to reincorporate in 1903. In 1930, it became a city, but Euclid didn't remain a city for long. Eventually, it was divided up between Cleveland and several surrounding cities.

In the late 1800s, Euclid Beach Park was the place to go for summer vacation. Residents from all over Cleveland came to enjoy the roller coasters, beautiful swimming beach, and the Euclid Beach carousel. The carousel was saved and is now located at the Western Reserve Historical Society. The hand-carved horses have been fully restored (along with the entire carousel) and is housed in a glass pavilion. It is open to the public, with two rides included in the cost of admission.

The Annual Waterloo Arts Festival is held each July and features innovative experiences for attendees, concerts, and the best in Cleveland food trucks.

Restaurantes y Bares

-

One of the best things about North Collinwood is its mix of old and new restaurants and venues. Scotti's Italian Eatery has been offering patrons a taste of the old days and trip down memory lane for years. Pizza is the main event at this casual eatery, but they also offer homemade pasta dishes, calzones, and salads. An old-school feeling surrounds the venue, and a patio filled with flowers is the perfect place to sit back with a glass of Chianti.

On East 185th Street, you'll find a laid-back Irish restaurant called Muldoon's Saloon and Eatery. Specials are always on the menu whether you're in the mood for 50 cent wings or Texas style barbecue for only three bucks. A party room perfect for festivities and a collection of domestic and imported beers make this place a good time for all.

A colorful, quaint, and tangy spot for Caribbean grub, the sounds of steel drums fill the air at Callaloo Cafe. Callaloo, the national dish of Trinidad and Tobago, the owner's homeland, has a special dish to honor its roots. Callaloo's Steam Chick dinner features spinach, okra, and spicy bone-in chicken pieces with a hearty side of macaroni and cheese -- a true taste adventure.

The goal of the Waterloo Arts District is to create a premiere entertainment and lifestyle destination on Cleveland's Eastside, and that goal is vibrantly coming to life. A great place to enjoy nightlife entertainment, Waterloo Road offers an eclectic mix of art, music, and people-watching. Stop by or even submit to have your own artwork displayed at Arts Collinwood Gallery, Waterloo 7 Gallery, or Low Life Gallery.

The Beachland Ballroom and Tavern offers a wide variety of entertainment, ranging from burlesque shows to folk bands and everything in between. Sunday brunch will never be the same -- DJs spin vinyl records as the crowd enjoys dishes that range from Chicken and Waffles to Corned Beef Hash to Latkes and Applesauce, served alongside a variety of brunch cocktails. At night, Beachland is the hottest venue in town, offering a hip-yet-down-to-earth vibe.
