Viviendo en Lindridge-Martin Manor

Historia

-

Originally a neighborhood for those families who wanted a country life within the city, Lindridge-Martin Manor developed with a commitment to green spaces. While much of the development in intervening years has eliminated some of that green space, residential streets maintain some of the country atmosphere the founders envisioned.

Lindridge-Martin Manor has a strong feeling of community, maintained by local school events and small holiday festivals held in the parks of the area. Generally these festivals include farmers' markets with local products.

Restaurantes y Bares

-

Whether you want a casual dinner or a full fine-dining experience, the Lindridge-Martin Manor restaurants are sure to satisfy your cravings. Food trucks commonly come through the area and park along Cheshire Bridge Road, so you never know what kind of food chefs are serving on any given evening.

Locals consider Grub Burger Bar a contender as one of the top burger joints in the Atlanta area. Choose from beef, chicken, veggie, tuna or turkey burgers made just the way you want. Try the crawfish pistolettes as an appetizer, and don't forget to order an adult milkshake to give your meal a special kick.

Home to residents of diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds, Lindridge-Martin Manor is known for a similarly diverse mix of ethnic restaurants. Locally owned Italian, Greek, Asian and Mexican restaurants line Cheshire Bridge Road. In particular, the area houses a large Ethiopian community, so the neighborhood offers some of the best Ethiopian food cooked in the city. The Ghion Cultural Hall, a hidden gem of a restaurant, serves up authentic Ethiopian dishes about which both novices to the cuisine and Ethiopians who grew up with the specialties rave.

The mixed bag of nightlife options gives residents a wide selection of ways to spend a Friday night. If you want to simply relax at a local bar, expect to find many options, but for a more unique experience, check out Taverna Plaka. This Greek restaurant features belly-dancers and live music during the dinner hours, and the waiters encourage you to get out of your chair, dance and throw your napkin At night, the restaurant becomes a club, with a DJ spinning modern Mediterranean dance music. Buy a drink from the full bar, and get prepared for a fun night. Although Lindridge-Martin Manor generally has a more subdued nightlife, Taverna Plaka spices it up nicely.

Transporte

-

As is typical in Atlanta, most Lindridge-Martin Manor residents travel to work and run errands in their own cars. Since Lindridge sits so close to both GA-400 and I-85, residents access the highways easily to get around town. As a primarily residential area, Lindridge-Martin Manor offers plenty of space to park for free.

For those preferring to use public transportation, however, MARTA buses regularly cross Lindridge-Martin Manor, and it even has a local subway stop. At night, Uber and taxi services run regularly along Cheshire Bridge, so you should have no difficulty finding a ride home after a late night out.

If you like cycling, you should feel comfortable on the residential streets, but riding a bike on the major roads can be dangerous, especially during the congested commuter hours. Generally, people do not walk as a form of transportation here, although a leisurely morning walk or jog around the neighborhood is not uncommon.

Parques

-

With a wide expanse of landscaped greenery next to Peachtree Creek, Cheshire Farm Park and Trails provide the neighborhood with plenty of space ideal for walking the dog or strolling through as a family. This park and the Meadow Loop Trail form a large portion of the 31.22 miles of waterfront along the creek that have been converted for community use. The parks connected to this project have mostly natural trails, which runners and dog walkers use often for welcome fresh air and exercise.

Costo

-

Atlanta residents laud the affordability of Lindridge-Martin Manor. Living here costs slightly less than Atlanta as a whole and significantly less than the neighboring Buckhead area. A one-bedroom apartment costs about $900-$1,200, depending on the location relative to the highway. Residents here can relax and have a beer knowing it will cost them around $5, about half the price that it would in Buckhead proper. An exception to the generally lower prices in Lindridge-Martin Manor, gas here costs about what it would anywhere else in Atlanta, but as these prices are about 10 percent lower than the national average, people don't complain much.

Compras

-

Not typically considered a shopping destination in Atlanta, Lindridge-Martin Manor houses few shops other than the basic ones needed to support the community. However, Cheshire Bridge does have most of the tobacco stores in north Atlanta. One of the most popular of these locations is the Blue Rat, which features a wide selection of specialty products. People from all over Atlanta come here to search for obscure tobacco products.

In order to support the gardening hobby of this green-minded community, many gardening shops have sprung up in the area as well. Taproot Hydroponics, one notable gardening store, has helpful staff who eagerly provide advice and answer any questions that you may have about hydroponics specifically or gardening in general. Plus, prices at Taproot regularly beat out prices at major gardening chains and even Internet stores, so you know you will get the best price.

People usually grab their groceries at the Target and Kroger conveniently located off the main road.
