Historia

-

Hale used to be home to both Rose Medical and the University of Colorado Hospital. This brought most of the commercial and residential attention to the neighborhood. The popularity along Colfax also helped bring residents to the area during the 1930s.

In 2007, CU moved their hospital to their own facility in Aurora, opening up space for new residencies and other medical facilities.

While there are no museums or annual events in this neighborhood, City Park, Cheesman Park, and Cherry Creek are just a few blocks away, offering residents a long list of things to do.

Restaurantes y Bares

-

While there aren't many options for food and nightlife in this neighborhood, the few restaurants you will find along Colfax and Colorado are culinary delights.

Some of Denver's best sushi can be found at Sushi Harbor. This little sushi restaurant has some of the best deals in town with a happy hour every day from 2:30 until 5:30pm. This place is highly recommended if you want to fill your belly without emptying your wallet on typical downtown Denver dining prices. Make sure to try the Sweetheart roll, you'll love the mango kick.

For anyone craving some freshly prepared greens, make sure to grab a bite to eat at Govinda's Garden Vegetarian & Vegan Café. Their primary focus is to serve fresh, natural, and organic food to local residents. They have quickly become a popular spot due to their dedication to flavor and sustainability. Should you stop by, be sure to try their buffet. It is a wonderful option with some of the best BBQ tofu.

If you're looking for a quick place to eat, stop in All-V's Sandwiches. The Avocado Gobbler, filled with turkey, avocado, bacon and provolone, is consistently rated as one of the local favorites.

While Hale isn't particularly known for night life activities, the northern border street of Colfax is your best bet for something to keep you and your friends entertained throughout the evening. One of your options is College Inn, a sports bar that offers poker starting at 6:00pm on Sundays and also has $2 draught pints. With plenty of flatscreen HDTV's, you and your gang of sports fans won't miss a moment of the action on game day. If you get hungry, the smoked chicken wings with Boulder gold sauce won't let you down. This delectable sauce is a combination of sweet, spicy, and a hint of mustard.

Transporte

-

Residents in Hale have a wide variety of transportation options. Colfax and Colorado are on two of the major bus routes in the state and for residents with a car these arteries allow them to travel to different neighborhoods with ease. There are also many options for public transportation from RTD Denver all throughout the neighborhood. The Rose Medical Center has one bus that stops right out front and will take riders directly to downtown Denver.

This neighborhood is very easy to walk around, as there are sidewalks everywhere and many major parks just a few blocks in any direction. It is common to find joggers and people playing with their children in the surrounding areas.

Parques

-

The two parks in the Hale neighborhood are Linsley Park and Belleview Park. Both parks are beautiful and right across from Rose Medical Center. These great parks feature tall, sprawling trees, big, open fields and plenty of built-in amenities including basketball courts, baseball fields, tennis courts, picnic areas, tennis courts, horseshoe pits and a playground. Along with being free to the public these parks are kid and dog friendly, giving families a safe atmosphere to play in.

Costo

-

Many Denver residents think of Capitol Hill when they are in the market to save money on their housing, but the Hale neighborhood has surprisingly competitive housing rates. The average rent for a one bedroom around $1,000 per month. Residents can take advantage of a safe neighborhood to call home, and a close proximity to all that Denver has to offer.

Compras

For the most part, the only shopping options in the neighborhood can be found along Colfax.

Since Colorado is such a bike-friendly state, stop in the Colorado Cycling Connection for all of your biking needs. This locally owned bike shop helps shoppers find their perfect bike; suited specifically for their individual needs. They also offer tune-ups, suspension overhauls, and wheel building so you never have to worry about the long-term maintenance and care of your bike.

Another unique store is Athena's Closet, which is a plus-sized consignment fashion store for women. The store owner is incredibly helpful, the dressing rooms are expansive, and the clothes can be found at hard-to-believe, easy-to-celebrate prices. They also offer jewelry, purses, shoes, hats, gloves, and scarves.

Need groceries? For all your essentials and grocery needs you can find a King Soopers, Safeway, and Albertsons within the neighborhood. While there are no farmers markets within Hale, Pete's Fruits & Vegetables provides all the fresh ingredients you need to cook a memorable meal.
