Glenmoor is one of Fremont’s largest and oldest neighborhoods. Complemented by palm-tree-lined streets, Glenmoor is filled with ranch-style and Mediterranean-style single-family houses and modern apartments and townhomes. The cost of living in Fremont is rather high, and rent tends to be more expensive, but there are moderately priced options available as well. Glenmoor has excellent schools, a community pool, small neighborhood parks, and plenty of sidewalks.

As a neighborhood in Silicon Valley, professionals enjoy convenient commutes to multiple technology offices. Amplified by an active neighborhood association, Glenmoor feels like a separate city, maintaining a small-town feeling where everyone knows their neighbors. The neighborhood association hosts community events including a 4th of July parade, barbecues, and holiday ceremonies. Residents also enjoy Glenmoor’s central location that allows them to access the entire city of Fremont and other Bay Area communities.

Downtown Fremont is located directly across from Glenmoor, allowing residents to be within walking distance of annual festivals, diverse eateries, and plenty of shopping centers. Two BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) train stations are also convenient to the neighborhood, making it even easier to travel throughout the Bay.

Glenmoor Gardens holds a place in Fremont’s history as one of the oldest and largest neighborhoods, built upon remnants of early settlers' farms. These livestock and grain farms were part of large estates that were first incorporated under Glenmoor Homes, Inc.

Shifting away from the farmlands spread across Glenmoor, many housing tracts were planned and implemented over the next 15 years. Glenmoor Gardens was marketed as a “community planned for gracious living” and catered to young families.

The Glenmoor Gardens of today keeps with old traditions and remains very community-oriented. Visit the Children's Natural History Museum for an educational trip, and check in with the homeowners association for regular cultural events.

Restaurants in Glenmoor Gardens are low key and casual, staying consistent with the small-town community vibe of the neighborhood.

If you are in the mood for something unique and tasty, look no further than De Afghanan off Fremont Boulevard. Kabobs and bolani are highly suggest for people looking to sample the exquisite Afghan cuisine. Expect a wait to sit because this establishment stays busy through the day.

Sometimes we find ourselves craving something green. You can fulfill these cravings by stopping by Chaat Bhavan, a casual Indian vegetarian restaurant located on Mowry Avenue. Here, it serves perfectly spiced dishes that keep you wanting more. Start with malai paneer, a delicate cheese cooked in a creamy sauce, and finish off your meal with the tasty kofta curry.

For a night out with friends look no further than O'Sullivan's Sports Bar. Flat screens line the walls of this bar, even showing the game over the urinals in the men’s room. Locals can play a game of pool or just relax and enjoy a beer around a booth table.

For those in the mood to dance stop by the Mojo Lounge, a chill divey venue. There is live music four days a week and karaoke for those brave souls every Wednesday. Great buffalo wings and custom drinks keep the fire burning at this cool lounge.

Traveling around the neighborhood is easy for everyone. Residents have quick access to Interstate 880, and busy streets, including Fremont Boulevard, surround the neighborhood. Parking around the neighborhood is easy.

If taking public transportation is your style the East Bay bus company AC Transit runs many routes by Glenmoor Gardens. There is also the BART train, which stops nearby and runs throughout the Bay Area with many stops in San Francisco. For under $5, you can take the train all the way across the Bay.

There are many options for cabs in Fremont, it is recommended to call ahead and secure a taxi to come pick you up when you need one. If you are more active and prefer to walk or ride a bike, the roads throughout Glenmoor Gardens are well maintained and perfect for pedestrians.

Glenmoor Garden's residents have access to two private parks and recreation centers. For picnics and large playgrounds head down Birch Street to Birch Grove Park. If you want to hang out with some ducks, go to the Duck Pond at Fremont and Mowry.

During the summer Fremont gets hot, Glenmoor Residents have access to public pools located within the neighborhood. One such pool is at Meyer Park, found at Glenmoor Drive. These pools require an application and have family plans available for purchase. These pools are part of the great recreation facilities offered to residents and are great places for exercise.

Glenmoor Garden's Homeowners Association hosts many annual events including the Easter Egg Hunt, a Fourth of July Parade, movies in the park and even Christmas tree lighting ceremonies.

When looking to travel be wary of the gas prices, sitting at 15 percent higher than the national average. AC Transit buses are a great alternative and a ride on the bus $2.10 for adults. After a long day, you may wish to wind down at a local bar, where a typical beer costs $6.

There are two malls near Glenmoor Gardens: Newpark Mall and the Fremont Hub. When looking to shop you can’t go wrong at either. Newpark Mall seems to be favored in terms of its food court, so if lunch is part of your plan, just drive through Mowry Avenue, and pass under Interstate 880; it will be on your left. The Fremont Hub is a larger outdoor style mall, favored for its variety of large stores and large parking lots. The Fremont Hub is great for a long day of shopping.

For your foot fix, stop by Sole Supremacy, part of the Newpark Mall. Known locally for its great selection of popular shoes, this store will even buy your old sneakers. If books are more your style, try Half Price Books in the Fremont Hub. This massive bookstore buys and sells paper and digital media and stands as a local favorite.

For a great local grocery store try Sprouts Farmers Market, known for its great variety of fresh meats and excellent produce. On Wednesday, it has great sales. Every Sunday morning at Newpark Mall, the local Newark Farmers Market is held. Farm fresh produce and local merchants are here to please every Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
