Historia

-

Fairwood, Robandee, and their surrounding areas started as a staging ground for pioneers traveling along the Santa Fe Trail in the 1820s. Before settlers arrived from East Coast states such a Virginia, Osage Indians lived here. Blacksmiths, wagon makers and farmers earned livings in Raytown, Little Blue and other small towns. Farms grew larger from the 1870s to the 1930s to include dairy cows, grain crops and beef cattle. Mills, doctor's offices and railroads soon followed.

Most of the houses in Fairwood & Robandee came about during the suburban boom of the 1950s after World War II. Former factory workers and railroaders bought houses and property in the neighborhood to begin life away from the busy urban landscape.

Nearby arts and culture include the Harry S. Truman farm and the Kansas City Zoo. The Mid-Continent Public Library provides several events free and open to the public.

The most unique dish on the menu features Italian sausage sandwich mixed with the restaurant's signature sauce on a bun.

Locals flock to Tasty's for a quick bite. Order by number, one through 21, on the big menu board above the main counter. The all-American burger contains a 1/2-pound of black Angus ground beef with standard "fixins" such as tomatoes, lettuce, and onion with condiments. The giant tenderloin sandwich features pork on a bun for the same affordable price as Tasty's hamburgers. Order the sandwiches by themselves or with a combo platter for just a few dollars more.

Head north into Raytown along the Blue Parkway to discover Stumbles Public House. This dive bar features several billiards tables as you enjoy simple bar fare or one of the many drink specials. Watch out for frequent updates on social media to check for daily deals on drinks, food and pool.
