When the days are warmer Fairfax has the Fairfax Community Park maintained by the city for local enjoyment, totaling 100 acres of recreation area and greenbelt. This design includes a number of sports ball fields, walking paths, picnic areas, and pavilions for large group outdoor events. A number of festivals, holiday activities and events happen at the Community Park on different dates around the year including the annual Easter Egg hunt, a 4th of July Community Day, a kids fun run, a haunted house at Halloween time, and the annual Fairfax town tree lighting for Christmas.
Children also have a number of programs geared for keeping young minds busy in the summer. The town library runs two summer camps, one based on art and the other a nature program.
