Set among the rolling green hills of Pennsylvania, East York holds a proud spot among the Keystone State's historic areas. The East York Historic District contains more than 300 structures dating back to 1903. East York's Colonial Revival, Prairie, and Tudor homes set along quiet, tree-lined streets make quite the scenic picture. The neighborhood's location – minutes from Downtown York and just 26 miles south of Harrisburg via Interstate 83 – has East York apartments getting snapped up fast. The City of York served as the first capital city of the United States, and it played a significant role in the development of Congress' Articles of Confederation. It wasn't until the early 1900s that East York, a historic district listed on the National Register of Historic Places, came into existence. Since then, the neighborhood has maintained much of the historic architecture of its homes and buildings, which provide excellent examples of the suburbs developed in the early part of the 20th century.

Neighborhood galleries, such as York Art Association and Old Towne Artisans, contribute to the cultural vibe in East York. Several museums are just minutes away from East York, including the York Historical Society Museum, Agricultural & Industrial Museum, and the Fire Museum of York County.

Residents in East York can catch live entertainment at Fat Daddy's, a nightclub and music venue on East Market Street. In addition to East York's grid of residential streets, the neighborhood's proximity to major roadways makes it fast and convenient to commute or travel by car. Interstate 83, one of the state's first interstates, connects East York residents with points north, such as Harrisburg, and points south, including Baltimore, Maryland. Choose Route 30 to travel east to Lancaster or west to Gettysburg.

Most residents of East York drive in private cars to commute to work and navigate the area. Downtown York houses the nearest parking garage. Residents in East York can apply for a monthly parking permit for on-street parking. Memorial Park, located near York's Valley View neighborhood, houses batting cages for rent by the hour or half-hour. York City Ice Arena also calls the Memorial Park area home.
