Rosedale is a large neighborhood in southeastern Queens, adjacent to JFK Airport. While officially part of New York City, the combination of lush greenery, quiet residential streets, and abundant single-family homes make the community much more similar to suburban areas farther out on Long Island. Brookville Park on the west side of town is a great place to spend a sunny afternoon, and the small shopping and dining district along 243rd Street is full of locally-owned businesses specializing in Caribbean delicacies. The Green Acres Mall to the east is one of the area’s most popular shopping centers, within walking distance for most residents. With rail service from Rosedale Station, the trip to Manhattan is about an hour, making it a solid option for commuters.
