Considered one of the Midwest's top universities, the University of Michigan-Dearborn offers a beautiful campus wedged between the Rouge River and the Fairlane Town Center shopping mall. After class, students can shop or see a movie at the mall or hike the trails along the Rouge River. The UM-Dearborn campus is built on land donated by the Ford Motor Corporation, and the Henry Ford Estate is located on the southwest side of campus. This historic estate, called Fair Lane, was built in 1927 and included 1300 acres -- 200 of which were donated for the university in 1959.

UM-Dearborn provides a variety of varsity sports teams to cheer on, including the impressive men's ice hockey team, which plays at the University of Michigan-Dearborn Fieldhouse. With the University of Michigan's main campus just 30 miles away in Ann Arbor, students can also cheer on the Wolverines at Michigan Stadium. The Wolverines football team is a source of state pride, having more all-time wins than any other team in college football. The Wolverines are part of NCAA Division I and are members of the Big 10 Conference.

With so much natural beauty in the area -- just take a walk along the Waterfall Loop Trail to appreciate the region -- you'll find plenty to do when not on campus. Evergreen Road separates the campus from the mall, while nearby Michigan Avenue is lined with shops and restaurants. To live near the River Rouge Bike Trail entrance, look along Monroe Street near the intersection with South Brady Street. If you prefer to live in Downtown Dearborn, travel roughly two miles east on Michigan Avenue.
