This beautiful and spacious New York Style luxury living loft (1700 square feet) has two large carpeted bedrooms and one smaller carpeted guest bedroom (sometimes used as an office) that looks out into the great room. The two larger bedrooms have full attached bathrooms with ceramic tile walls and floors. The entry foyer steps down into the great room that has 16' high ceilings, wide plank oak flooring and two period style ceiling fans. Entry to the loft is via your own private outdoor deck (10' x 25'). The large modern fully equipped kitchen has ceramic tile floors and lots of counter and cabinet space. Next to the kitchen is the laundry room with a stacked washer/dryer unit and additional shelf storage space. Next to the laundry room is the charming old freight elevator that was converted into a half bath, featuring the original sliding gate, a new pocket door, pedestal sink, pull chain toilet and an African Cherry wood floor. There is plenty of natural light from the windows facing south and west. The efficient new HVAC central air system provides heating and cooling. There are large closets in each of the three bedrooms and a separate closet near the entry foyer. In 2017 the courtyard stairway was renovated and now features thermostat controlled heated steps and landing to prevent snow and ice from accumulating. This historic building built in 1901 was completely restored in 2004 and has been featured twice in the Home Section of the Virginian-Pilot newspaper. The property has security cameras on the front and rear of the building. The High St. front entry gate is controlled by a video/audio intercom system within the loft. The free parking lot at the rear of the building allows space for two vehicles per loft. In addition there is always free parking on High St. LOCATION: Coviently located between the downtown & midtown tunnels as well as the new Jordan Bridge, all leading into Norfolk and the other surrounding cities. It's a short walk to the Portsmouth Naval Hospital and all the fine restaurants, bars, museums, marinas and other entertainment in Old Town plus the ferry to Norfolk and Harbor Park, home of the Norfolk Tides AAA baseball team. If you are in the military you will have a short 5 minute drive to the Norfolk Naval Shipyard or a 10 minute drive to the Cedar Rd. Coast Guard Station. TERMS: 1 year minimum lease; No Smoking Space, No Section 8, Utilities are not included and typically run about $175+ per month.
