The call letters WBKY operated out of the station near the Beattyville School Stage from 1940-1941, when the lack of reception made it impossible to continue operations. The station moved to Lexington and kept the WBKY call letters until 1989 when it switched to the call letter WUKY. The school was officially listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008.
