Believed to be the basis for Mayberry, the fictional town in The Andy Griffith Show, Mount Airy is an attractive town set at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The town center is full of older buildings that now house quirky shops and restaurants that keep residents and tourists alike entertained.

Those in Mount Airy enjoy a vibrant community scene, with events like the Autumn Leaves Festival and Mayberry Days bringing in thousands of tourists ever year. Mount Airy’s location makes it most accessible by car, and there’s almost no public transportation to speak of. I-74 and US 52 are the main arteries of the town, and open you up to vast expanse of the Blue Ridge to hike and explore.
