Helena, Montana's capital city, combines historical architecture with mountain views that create an appealing setting for renters. Set against the Rocky Mountains, this former gold rush town offers numerous outdoor recreation opportunities. The rental market currently shows one-bedroom apartments renting for $1,525, while two-bedroom units command approximately $1,725 per month. Mount Helena City Park and its trail system provide immediate access to hiking and outdoor activities, while the Last Chance Gulch walking mall in downtown features local shops and restaurants housed in preserved 19th-century buildings.
The city's mining history is showcased in its Victorian architecture, particularly evident in the mansion district. Carroll College's campus, with its distinctive architecture, contributes to Helena's scenic landscape.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at Elkhorn Flats
I lived here for a year & the units are not “luxury” at all. They are average apartments with older average appliances, constructed very sloppily and poorly maintained. At a superficial glance online, they look cute with the hard-wood look laminate floors and the exterior aesthetic. Once you get inside you see how the cabinets have shelves that are coming loose, no door handles on the cabinets, the spaces where the granite counters meet the wall are uneven and filled in with clear caulking which looks gross and cheap. Every one of my neighbors had issues with tons of bugs getting inside (yes yes it’s Montana - bugs are normal, but it’s not normal to have droves of mites and beetles and ants continuously coming through noticeable cracks in the walls. They refused to give me a tour of the unit before moving in. The day I moved in I noticed a severely busted baseboard, they’d completely lined the bathtub in brown semi transparent caulking (instead of white) and there was a dirty orange/yellow greasy substance all over the top part of the shower perimeter. The microwave was broken and the fridge was dirty inside (crumbs and hair). The The garage floor was caked in oil/grease and tons of dirt (no, not like a normal garage floor - they hadn’t cared to clean it at all after the last tenant). The only saving grace of this complex is their Maintenance Manager, Rick. He helps as much as he can until you decide to leave.
Beautiful location, pet friendly, ESA friendly, lots of walking paths close by. End of an street away from traffic. Beautifully kept grass, the maintenance team is amazing! Office Management is kind and very professional. Lived here 3 years and absolutely love it!
Management only cares about money. They will nickel and dime you every chance they get. Snow removal is Abysmal they do not care for the safety of the tenets(wife and friends fell on the ice and there only response was it’s better then last year). Price is ridiculous. High speed internet is 100mbs for 50 bucks a month you can’t get you own plan (200mbs for the same price). They will try every thing they can to make you pay pet fees for service animals ( not just emotional support animals but service animals (super illegal) if you value what you spend on a place to live your better of with a different place.
